I had a difficult time getting through to one of my students. It was almost to the point where I didn't know what to do. Until it came to art, at first he was very lenient and didn't want to do it, then it came time for the final product, and he blew me away. I don't know his art background or if he has any one to encourage him. He wa so proud to show his art to the class under the document camera, I was proud of him. Maybe art is a way to connect to those grade 7 boys. Moments like this make me want to continue with my arts journey, hoping to make even more connections with my students.

It would be neat to hear this student talk about his work...so many symbols and ideas are in this. The cat hanging upside down made me smile - he has a sense of humour!And can you imagine how, if you had that conversation, you would then have the beginnings of a great relationship with this student that would benefit his learning in so many other areas.
